ALLYSON TARBOX, LMSW

EXPERIENCE

I began my social work career as a Community School Coordinator in Baltimore. I strived to facilitate a supportive and positive environment in school and the community for my students through partnership and community building. Later, I decided to pursue the clinical route and transitioned to a school based therapy role. As a school based therapist, I provide mental health support to ages 5-14 for a range of presenting concerns.

CURRENT TREATMENT FOCUS

My current treatment focus is working with children and adults. As a dedicated therapist, I am committed to supporting the well-being of children, adolescents, and adults navigating a range of challenges. My areas of focus include providing compassionate care for those experiencing grief and loss and major life transitions, offering strategies to manage anxiety and its impact, and facilitating healing for individuals who have experienced trauma. I also work to cultivate self-esteem, address peer relationship difficulties, and provide support and treatment for individuals with ADHD, depression, emotional dysregulation.

TREATMENT APPROACH AND MODALITIES

I use an integrative and collaborative approach to therapy in order to meet a client where they are in life. I believe in creating a welcoming and empowering space for clients to feel they can achieve their goals and be their true self. I use evidenced based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral therapy and Mindfulness. When working with children, I incorporate play and art as an added technique for expression.

OUTSIDE OF SESSION

I enjoy spending time with my husband and three cats. I am also an avid reader and love to browse the book store. I have recently started a wildflower garden and I am loving my time outside.
