ANTONIO HEROLD, CRNP-PMH

EXPERIENCE

My experience in critical care, as Behavioral Health Instructor at Johns Hopkins and as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at a CARF-qualified healthcare organization, in in-patient Psych as well as a nurse on various units at multiple facilities has provided me with an excellent base in the field and a wealth of knowledge regarding Behavioral health management, diagnosis, medication administration, interdisciplinary relations, therapeutic communication, sensitivity awareness, and other relevant skills required of a dedicated and effective provider and member of the healthcare team.

CURRENT TREATMENT FOCUS

I started my behavioral health career as one of the Directors at a residential treatment center for adolescents in 2010. I found that I had a passion for helping others, and pursued my undergrad degree and worked as a registered nurse. As a nurse, I started in both behavioral health and Emergency medicine for several years before branching out to work as a registered nurse in Central Pool, Medical Surgical, and the Intensive Care Unit, before obtaining my Master’s as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. In addition, I have been trained and certified by FEMA in HCL/HOT/HERT/COBRA and served as a Baltimore City Hospital Disaster Training Coordinator. I have also been trained and worked as an instructor in Crisis Prevention and Intervention. These experiences have provided me with an excellent base in the field and a wealth of knowledge regarding Behavioral Health Management, diagnosis, medication administration, interdisciplinary relations, therapeutic communication, sensitivity awareness, and other relevant skills required of a dedicated and effective provider. Those same skills, commitment, and desire to help are now employed to serve the behavioral health needs of children, adolescents, and adults in outpatient care. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I firmly believe that everyone has a right to help. I enjoy providing all aspects of patient care, including assessments, medication management, substance use treatment, MAT, care coordination, de-escalation, education, implementation, consultations, interventions, evaluating patient plans and care, and providing ongoing care to adults, children, and families with mental illness disorders such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, attention issues, mood disorders, personality disorders, and schizophrenias.

TREATMENT APPROACH AND MODALITIES

I am fairly laid back and easy to talk with. I do not believe in using a lot of big words or rhetoric as I am more concerned that people understand what we are talking about and the treatment plan. I believe and listening to my patients' problems and concerns and health got him down and educating them on options to help develop a treatment plan that focuses on their concerns. I am not here to push therapy or medication. I am here to help you to be that you that you want to be.

OUTSIDE OF SESSION

I am a huge nerd. I love spending time with my kids, reading comic books, watching anime, playing video games (when I have time), reading, playing sports, and working out. I am lucky in that respect as my boys love doing most of those things as well. The thing that I probably do the most besides reading is building and flying radio control models (specifically RC jets). In general, I love to laugh, joke, and have a good time.
