JAYLEN CLARK, LGPC

EXPERIENCE

I've had the opportunity to support a diverse range of clients in both community and academic settings. During my internship, I provided individual and group therapy to clients with sexual offense histories and domestic violence involvement, collaborating closely with parole officers and legal systems to support compliance and facilitate rehabilitation. At the Neighborhood Counseling Training Clinic (NCTC), I worked with college students and community members, offering individual therapy focused on anxiety, identity development, relationship dynamics, and academic concerns. These experiences allowed me to lead psychoeducational groups, conduct intake assessments, maintain clinical documentation, and provide crisis intervention while fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.

CURRENT TREATMENT FOCUS

My focus is on supporting individuals between the ages of 10 and 50, with a particular emphasis on adolescents, young adults, and adults navigating a broad range of life challenges. My areas of focus include anxiety, depression, identity development, relationships, communication, life transitions, and academic or work-related stress.

My background as a soccer coach has enabled me to build meaningful connections with youth and young adults in a supportive and motivating manner. I bring that same energy and encouragement into the therapy room. I especially enjoy working with college students and adolescents who may be managing school pressures, social stressors, or other emerging adulthood issues.

I also have experience supporting older adults, which was my primary focus during my early field work. I understand the unique transitions and emotional shifts that can occur later in life, and I'm committed to helping clients at all life stages feel empowered and understood. While my focus is generalist in nature, I am comfortable working with clients who may be dealing with addictions, addictive tendencies, or have justice system involvement as well. I aim to build a safe, welcoming, and honest therapeutic relationship where you feel heard, respected, and supported.

TREATMENT APPROACH AND MODALITIES

My approach is rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Gestalt Therapy, while incorporating elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, and psychoeducation as needed. My approach emphasizes and focuses on the present, mindfulness, self-awareness, and helping clients explore their values to guide meaningful change. I also pay close attention to body language and nonverbal communication as tools for deepening insight and self-understanding. I strive to find the best therapeutic fit for each client, striking a balance between warmth and structure. Most importantly, I meet clients where they are and work collaboratively to help build skills, increase self-confidence, and find personal growth throughout our time together.

OUTSIDE OF SESSION

I enjoy playing and watching sports, consisting of soccer, football, and basketball. I am a proud Ravens fan and a former collegiate athlete who still loves staying active, with running or playing soccer. I also enjoy watching movies, especially in theaters, discovering new music, and spending quality time with friends and family. Also, I like trying new foods and trying new restaurants.
