JULIE BEASMAN, PsyD

EXPERIENCE

I have almost 20 years experience as a licensed psychologist, with experience training and working in a variety of outpatient and inpatient settings including Bellevue Hospital (NY), Johns Hopkins Hospital, Patton State Hospital, Springfield Hospital, and counseling clinics. I am also trained in forensic assessment, where I conduct forensic evaluations for the court with juveniles and adults. I have also served as a training director and supervisor. I am a member of the American Psychological Association, Maryland Psychological Association, and listed in the National Register of Health Service Psychologists. I am proud to be the co-founder of WLCC and the incredible staff we have!

CURRENT TREATMENT FOCUS

I work with adolescents through adults to navigate emotional, psychological, and relational challenges on your path to live your best life. Life is complex and throws a lot at us, and it is my goal to help be a compassionate guide to not only weather life's storms, but to help develop insight, growth, and lasting change. My treatment focus ranges from mood disorders, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, trauma, ADHD, psychotic disorders, as well as life changes and transitions (career, relationship, loss, family) and stress. I also enjoy working with couples to help navigate the sunshine and rain in all relationships.

TREATMENT AND APPROACH MODALITIES

My therapeutic approach is guided by my extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral, Acceptance and Commitment, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal, and Psychodynamic approaches. Above all, a strong therapeutic relationship and making therapy sessions a safe, comfortable place is a critical foundation. Together, we will work on understanding your past and how it affects the present to forge the most healthy path in the future. I also integrate empirically supported treatment protocols, including direct coping skills and tasks, in our work together along with supporting a deeper understanding of your history and psyche. My training in couples treatment also informs my work with all clients to incorporate listening and effective communication in their lives.

OUTSIDE OF SESSION

Outside of session, I enjoy spending time with my family, which often involves cheering them on at their various activities! I love traveling, football, volunteering in the community, and spending time with friends.
